Progress Report for Donors Now Available In December 2006, the Debate Education Fund sent a progress report to all donors, detailing the fund's accomplishments and goals. Since then, the fund has additionally offered a grant of $1000 to help establish a debate program at Chelsea High School and is in the initial stages of working with Lynn Classical High School in starting its own debate team. MERHS Debaters Succeed at NFL Nationals
Dan Cellucci and Chris Comenos finish 6th in the nation as Manchester Essex Debaters had their strongest showing since 1987 at the National Championships, held in Dallas, Texas on June 18 – June 24, 2006. Representing New England, Manchester Essex qualified two teams in March to attend the championships held by the National Forensic League.

Debaters Win National Championship: Pates, Cellucci, Swanzey, & Cowman Close Out Semifinals Competing against the best teams in the nation, Manchester Essex Regional High School Debaters continued a fabulous season by winning the National Tournament of Champions Public Forum Debate Round Robin , held in Lexington KY from April 28-May 1. Manchester Essex had two teams in the competition: Ryan Swanzey & Ross Cowman and Dan Cellucci & Jamie Pates.

Averill Debate Fund Awards Grant to Boston Urban Debate LeagueThe newly created Tim Averill Debate Education Fund awarded its first grant on Saturday, December 11, to the Boston Urban Debate League. The award was given at the League’s second tournament on the year, held at Excel High School in South Boston.
